EDVISE PARTNERS is a research advisory company that conducts research and sells it in various forms, usually by subscription, to business and government clients. If pure publishing is defined as one-to-many, and pure consulting as one-to-one, then research advisory means one-to-a-few. Essentially, it time-shares experienced, knowledgeable analysts so that client executives and project teams can make important, business-critical decisions faster and with less risk. Clients can access reliable, high quality information without shouldering the whole cost of producing it.

Is this consulting? Yes and no. Most traditional consulting is, in the end, staff augmentation - importing experts to perform services that a client’s own staff doesn't have the time, experience or expertise to take on. Research advisory, on the other hand, is mostly a staff enhancer, helping existing personnel work smarter and faster by providing access to information - research on best practices, process models, vendor evaluations, client case studies, etc. - that it would take them significant amounts of time to assemble on their own. Where we do consult, it is generally either very short duration (1-2 days), or focused on information gathering.
